Hand-Carved Baltic Amber Dragon // 245 Grams

This exquisitely detailed dragon on a bed of coins and a rocky outcropping is entirely and intricately hand-carved out of one solid 245-gram piece of gorgeously-colored Baltic amber from Ukraine. This carved 34 to 55 million year specimen varies in clarity from a more opaque and swirled almost butterscotch effect to incredible, glass-clear translucency especially toward the edges of the carving. The artist has realized incredible detail here, from the individual hairs in the dragon's mane to the texture of the rope stringing together the coins on its back - bringing a fantastic scene to life out of a frozen piece of history.
