This large and dynamic slab of petrified wood is from the famous Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. Over millions of years, fallen trees - buried beneath layers of sediment, halting the process of decay - are transformed from wood to stone through mineralization. Arizona petrified wood is coveted for its vibrant colors due to the presence of minerals like quartz, iron, and manganese. This particular specimen features intact bark around the edges of the slab and has been hand-polished on both sides to bring out the natural colors and patterns.
