This truly special hand-carved and hand-polished sphere contains the fluorescent minerals franklinite, willemite, and calcite, all mined in the famous Sterling Hill Mine in Ogdensburg, New Jersey. Stones out of this location are prized for exhibiting the brightest, most vivid fluorescence in the world. Spheres from this material are rare and this is one of the largest to date, measuring 9-1/2″ in diameter and weighing a hefty 57.5 pounds. A prize acquisition for any collector. This piece glows neon green, orange, and violet under UV light.
