This striking pendant fashioned from Muonionalusta meteorite makes an excellent gift for anyone who enjoys unique jewelry. It features a simple geometric design that lets the distinct interweaving Widmanstätten pattern take center stage. This etching is unique to some iron-nickel meteorites and forms when the meteorite very slowly cools. Muonionalusta is a meteorite classified as a fine octahedrite which impacted in northern Scandinavia west of the border between Sweden and Finland about one million years BCE.

The first Muonionalusta was found in 1906 and it is one of the oldest known meteorites at roughly 4.5 billion years old. This specimen is part of the meteorite’s iron core or mantle, which shattered into many pieces upon its fall to our planet, and it is mainly comprised of a combination of nickel and iron. On Earth, it has experienced four ice ages. Appearance may differ slightly from the picture and dimensions given are without the bail. Pendant comes on a silver chain.
