Dating back 112 to 93.5 million years, this specimen hails from the Cretaceous period when Spinosaurus – the largest known carnivorous dinosaur – dominated ancient river systems.
The name Spinosaurus, meaning “spined reptile,” refers to the creature’s distinctive sail-like vertebral spines.
