Rubies are often found in association with painites from this location. First unearthed in Myanmar in 1951 by gemologist Arthur C.D. Pain, there were initially only two known specimens of this red to reddish-brown hexagonal gem mineral in existence, with only one more found within the first few decades after its discovery.
