Nantan Meteorite in Collector’s Box

Discovered in 1958 in Guangxi, China, while residents were searching for materials for smelting, the Nantan meteorite is believed to have fallen to earth in 1516. It was an observed fall. Primarily meteoric iron, these meteorites have a concentration of 6.96% nickel. The largest fragment found thus far weighs 4,400 pounds.

Specimen weight (approximate): 2.2 grams.
