This luscious green copper carbonate mineral specimen from the DRC has been expertly hand-carved into a 365 gram elephant with upward-facing trunk and hand-polished to a brilliant luster to enhance its gorgeous colors and banding. Malachite was historically used as a pigment for painting and was a popular stone in ancient Egypt. This excellent quality carving displays sought-after natural patterning including bullseyes.
