This sculptural statement piece is one gigantic, excellent quality specimen of Mexican desert rose selenite: a variety of gypsum. Out of Naica near the famous Cave of Crystals, the matte, grainy texture and beige color of this piece come from sand trapped within the crystals – which form layers of “petals” in natural rose bud-like arrangements. The largest of these petals measure over three inches wide. A fabulous display specimen at a singular scale.
