Astro West Fine Minerals
58 million years ago in the Cenozoic Era, Eocene Epoch, in the Green River region of Wyoming, torrential rains poured down mountainsides and formed wide shallow lakes in the valley that evaporated during the dry seasons - killing millions of these Knightia and Diplomystus fish. This occurred cyclically every twenty thousand years. Shale formed in layers, preserving the fish, before a large river deposited reddish sandstone on top. Sometime later, volcanic eruptions uplifted the land in areas where there were faults in the earth, exposing cliff faces laden with fossils. Bring home some of this amazing history today with this natural plate featuring Knightia and Diplomystus fossils.
