This species of Mexican amber dates back approximately 24 million years to the early Miocene Epoch, and this excellent specimen has been expertly polished for beautiful display. Blue Chiapas amber is especially prized for its unique blue-green coloration – owing to mineral inclusions and the interaction of light within the structure of the fossilized tree resin – and is a rare and hard to come by variety of Chiapas amber, which can also be found in yellows, browns, greens, and reds, among other hues.
