Chalcedony After Anhydrite From Peru

This is the finest specimen pulled out of the historic pocket in Rumipata, Ichuña District, Moquegua, Peru – impressive not only for its gorgeous lilac coloring but also for its sheer size and its bold crystal structures. Here chalcedony (a species of microcrystalline quartz) slowly replaces the sulfate mineral anhydrite mineral while maintaining the original crystal structure or lattice, creating a uniquely sculptural, candy-hued, large cabinet-sized showpiece.
