Dug in the 1980s, this sizable specimen of genuine Baltic butterscotch amber gets its unique color or patina from 20-30 years’ exposure to the elements. This weathering phenomenon is especially characteristic of Ukrainian amber. Most Baltic amber is found washed up on the shore whereas this specimen was dug out of the ground in a Ukrainian forest and its patina creates an unusual matte finish, furthering the uniqueness of this highly collectible piece.
