This genuine Burmese amber specimen dates back approximately 99 million years. Pieces like these are sometimes called a menagerie and this one contains snakefly larvae, a pseudoscorpion, cockroaches, a spider, beetle larvae, Hymenoptera (wasps), and assorted additional organic matter. It formed during the Late Cretaceous period, so long ago that dinosaurs had yet to go extinct. Burmese amber is one of the oldest types of amber and pieces like this one are coveted by collectors.
