Belemnite Divided Oval Dish // Ver. 1
Morocco
This beautiful hand-carved belemnite oval dish is from the Atlas Mountains in South Morocco and features a belemnite fossil dividing the dish in half, creating two handy compartments to store jewelry or other loose items. Belemnites are an extinct species of Orthoceras, an ancient relative to the modern-day cephalopod – otherwise known as squids or nautilus. Orthoceras fossilize over a limestone bed and have an estimated age of about 370 million years, hailing from the Devonian period. This ancient specimen turned modern décor makes for the perfect gift to add aesthetic value and history to any home or office. As this is a natural item, appearance may vary from photos and dimensions and weight are approximate.
