Allende Meteorite // 15.81 Grams
This meteorite was acquired from the Bethany Sciences collection and comes in a display box with an informational Certificate of Authenticity. On February 8, 1969, this historic observed meteorite fall occurred over one of the largest strewn fields to ever be recorded, stretching over 200 square miles. The Allende meteorite significantly increased the amount of carbonaceous chondrite material available for study, as there are only sixteen recorded CV3 falls to date. CV3 or carbonaceous chondrite meteorites contain the most primitive known form of matter in the universe as the most primitive chondrites. They have undergone the least amount of mixing and remelting since the solar system was formed and are used to date the solar system.
