Yellow and Purple Fluorite
Denton mine, Hardin County, Illinois
Some of the highest quality Fluorite specimens in the world come from Hardin County. The Denton mine came online in 1984 at a depth of 1,000 feet. This specimen is a prime example of what makes this a famous locale: The intense contrast of the yellow and purple mixing into shades of orange, the glossy luster and the large cubic crystallization. To witness a great Denton Fluorite is to beholden to one of the cornerstones of the passion of mineral collecting.
