Boulder Opal


Boulder Opal is a unique and beautiful type of opal found in Queensland, Australia. Famous for its mixture of ironstone, opal, unique patterns and vibrant rainbow fire are finer than most other kids of boulder opal. This unique variety is spread over thousands miles and is millions of years old. Koroit and Yowah mines generally have more dark chocolate ironstone backing with light brown colouring and can display through veins of the petrified wood fossils. The opals replace cavities left over in petrified wood to create these wonderful mixtures of fossil, mineral and gemstone! The full spectrum of rainbows in this specimen are bright and are captivating.
