Muonionalusta Meteorite Pen // Silver and Blue

$400.00

Muonionalusta is a meteorite classified as a fine octahedrite which impacted in northern Scandinavia west of the border between Sweden and Finland about one million years BCE. The first Muonionalusta was found in 1906 and it is one of the oldest known meteorites at roughly 4.5 billion years old. The inlay on this exquisitely detailed ballpoint pen is part of the meteorite’s iron core or mantle, which shattered into many pieces upon its fall to our planet. On Earth, it has experienced four ice ages. Mainly comprised of a combination of iron and nickel, the distinct type of etching displayed by the meteorite is known as the Widmanstätten pattern. The genuine meteorite inlay on this impeccably crafted writing instrument has been dyed a cosmic blue. Comes in display box with Certificate of Authenticity.
