Sikhote-Alin Meteorite in Collector’s Box

Crashing into southeastern Russia on February 12th, 1947, the Sikhote-Alin meteorite shower was one of largest and the most widely witnessed meteorite falls in recorded history. The crash could be heard two hundred miles away and the trail of dust and smoke was twenty miles long. It is estimated that seventy metric tons of the meteorites survived after impact. Primarily iron in composition, this specimen also contains nickel, copper, phosphorous, and sulfur.
